What we do

Our purpose is to work with and for Norfolk school leaders, ensuring they have everything they need to confidently and successfully lead their school communities. We are committed to helping leaders thrive in their roles, feel supported by a strong professional network, and prioritise their own wellbeing. The wellbeing and support of Norfolk leaders is at the heart of everything we do.

We fulfil this purpose in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:

Listening to leaders

Each term, we offer opportunities for school leaders to engage with us and share what’s working well, as well as where further support or change could make the greatest difference. Through our half termly survey’s, Peer Support sessions, and Norfolk School Leaders’ Updates, we ensure leaders’ voices actively shape our work and the support we provide.

Providing Knowledge

Working in schools is busy, and keeping up with changes in information, guidance and policy can be challenging. We use a range of channels including our website, NSLU briefings, and our partnership with The Key Leaders to ensure Norfolk school leaders receive clear, timely and accessible information. We also offer induction for all new or new-to-Norfolk leaders, helping them feel confident, connected and well-prepared from the start.

Providing advocacy

We advocate for the changes school leaders need, including those that require time, policy development or formal processes. To do this, we work with a wide range of organisations across the sector. Our phase committees and executive members represent Norfolk school leaders on a variety of boards, ensuring their voices are heard and their priorities acted on.

Creating a collaborative community

Having a community of peers is vitally important for the success of school leaders. Being part of a wider community helps support school improvement, CPD, wellbeing and fosters system generosity. Each year we offer a number of opportunities to share best practice: Visiting each other’s schools, facilitating secondments/CPD, working together to solve system wide challenges.

Support leaders to safeguard their wellbeing

We know that a strong and supportive peer network, where leaders can openly share challenges, best practice and successes, is essential for maintaining wellbeing. We encourage you to make the most of the free opportunities we offer throughout the year, including termly Norfolk School Leaders’ Updates, our fortnightly peer support sessions, as well as utilising the resources on our website.

We feedback on our work and progress to leaders via our newsletter and termly Norfolk School Leader Updates.
